Monroe, La.  -  The ULM softball team heads back out on the road for the weekend to compete in the Georgia Classic against Georgia, Dayton and Northern Kentucky in Athens. The Warhawks are 5-1 on the young season and coming off of a midweek road win at McNeese on Wednesday night.

NOTABLES

Last time out: ULM shut out McNeese 3-0 to snap the Cowgirls' 12-game home winning streak on Wednesday night in the Warhawks' first road test of the young season. The Warhawks first got on the board in the second inning on Samantha Agamaite's bunt to bring in Vannessa Garcia before adding what proved to be the two final runs of the night in the third inning on Bailey Thibodeaux's two-run single back up the middle.

Road Hawks: The Warhawks are currently out on the road for 17 of the next 18 games. Of those, 13 games will be played in tournaments at University of Georgia, Central Arkansas and University of Houston over the upcoming weekends.

Georgia: The No. 12 Bulldogs have racked up a perfect season so far with a 7-0 mark, with all seven games coming at home. Georgia finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 46-20 and played in the NCAA Women’s College World Series.

Dayton: The Flyers started the season 3-2 on the road in the Mercer Invitational. The team finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 27-21-1 and ended its season in the Atlantic 10 tournament.

Northern Kentucky: Northern Kentucky will open its season this weekend after finishing the 2016 season with a 13-40 record. Northern Kentucky opened the 2016 season at the Tiger Classic against ULM in a high scoring game (14-10) that ended in favor of the Warhawks.

FROM COACH LYON

“We are hoping to ride the momentum from beating McNeese into this weekend. Our pitching and defense has been fabulous through the first six games. I am very happy with how we came out and attacked the ball at the plate against McNeese and look to continue the hot hitting this weekend.”
