Bobcats Spoil Senior Day for Warhawks

THE RUNDOWN

Monroe, La. – The ULM men’s basketball team couldn’t pull out a Senior Day win on Saturday as the Warhawks fell 70-65 against Texas State in a tight contest throughout in the final regular season Sun Belt Conference game of the season.

THE TURNING POINT                                                     

-The game stayed close all afternoon, however the Bobcats were able to force 14 Warhawk turnovers that they converted into 14 points in route to the five-point victory.

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks were led by Travis Munnings who had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead all scorers. Munnings hit 6-of-10 field goals and made a pair of three pointers. Senior guard Nick Coppola and Sam Alabakis added 11 points apiece for the Warhawks to round out the three double figure scorers.

-Alabakis set a new career-high with 11 points, the first time the freshman big man has finished with double figure scoring.

-The Warhawks grabbed another 10 offensive rebounds on Saturday in the loss – the 18th time in 31 games this season that they accomplished that mark. Travis Munnings led the team with 67 offensive rebounds.

-With his seven defensive rebounds in Saturday’s game, Travis Munnings moved to third on the single season record mark for the Warhawks in defensive rebounds with 182. He jumped over Brian Lubeck, who had 179 defensive rebounds back in 2000-2001.

-Texas State was led by a trio of double figure scorers, highlighted by Nijal Pearson's 17 points. Kavin Gilder-Tilbury had 16 points while Ojai Black had 15 points for the visitors.

-ULM senior Prince Cooper made his first career start on Senior Day in the loss and had seven points, three rebounds and a steal in the start on Saturday.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks now await official word as to who they play in next week’s Sun Belt Conference Championship, which is slated to tip off Wednesday from Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
