TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The visiting ULM baseball team jumped on the board first with a pair of runs in the first inning on Sunday, but it was all Alabama after that as the host Crimson Tide handed the Warhawks a 10-3 loss in the series finale.

THE BASICS

FINAL SCORE: Alabama 10, ULM 3

LOCATION: Sewell-Thomas Stadium / Tuscaloosa, Ala.

RECORDS: ULM (4-8, 0-0 SBC)

                    Alabama (6-5, 0-0 SEC)

TURNING POINT

-ULM plated two runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead, but Alabama responded with a single run in the bottom of the first and then used a two-run homer to take the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-ULM loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first inning and used a bases loaded walk by Turner Francis to take the early advantage, but were unable to push across anything else as Alabama stranded two runners to end the frame.

-Alabama used a double steal in the bottom of the first inning to cut into the early deficit before the second inning saw a two-run homer from Chandler Taylor that just got out over the center field wall to give the hosts the lead for good.

-Alabama would go on to add two runs in the fourth via a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly before a single run in the fifth came on an RBI single.

-The Warhawks again loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, but saw only one run come across, via a double play groundout from Francis, but stranded another runner to end the inning.

-Alabama answered again, this time with four runs in the bottom of the seventh, highlighted by a three-run homer by Tanner DeVinny, for the final runs of the night.

-Nate Reynolds led ULM with three of the Warhawks’ nine hits in the loss, while Blake Buckman notched a two-hit afternoon. Anthony Herrera, Johnny DeLaCruz, Spencer Hemphill and Francis each had one hit. Francis and Chad Bell had ULM’s two RBI in the loss.

-Warhawk starter Chase Beal was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs (four earned) in 4 1/3 innings of work on seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
