MONROE, La. - The ULM softball team split a Saturday doubleheader with a game one 4-3 loss and a 1-0 win in the second game against Georgia Southern at Geo-Surfaces Field, taking two of three games for the series win.

-In game one, the Eagles jumped out early to 4-1 lead after 5 1/2 innings and even after a two-run bottom of the sixth inning for the Warhawks, the visitors were unable to scratch across one more run and Georgia Southern took game one 4-3.

-In game two, the Warhawks and Eagles traded zeroes throughout the opening eight innings as neither team could get anything put together. The Warhawks secured the walkoff win when they scored on a fielding error in the bottom of the ninth to clinch the series.

-In game one, the Warhawks had eight hits, led by Sydney McKay and Melanie Coyne's two hits apiece. Jayden Mount, Sami Billeaudeau, Hunter Hogan and Samantha Agamaite added one each in the game.

-Hunter Hogan had two of the three RBI for ULM in game one, as her two-run single brought the Warhawks within one run in the sixth inning.

-In game two it was all about Coyne on the mound as she pitched her second complete game shutout of the weekend. She went nine innings while scattering five hits and striking out seven Eagles in the process.

-The ULM offense scratched across a run in the bottom of the ninth as Ana Hogan reached on a fielding error by the third baseman for Georgia Southern which was enough to give the Warhawks a win.

-For the Warhawks it marks their first series win in the SBC since last March 12-13 when the Warhawks went to Boone, N.C. and took two of three from Appalachian State.

-The Warhawks will travel to Stephen F. Austin for a single game on Wednesday night. First pitch from Nacogdeches, Texas is slated for 6:00 p.m.
