CONWAY, S.C. -  The ULM softball team closed its road Sun Belt Conference weekend series at Coastal Carolina with a 6-4 loss on Sunday afternoon.


-ULM scored a run in the top of the third inning to take a one-run lead at 3-2, but Coastal Carolina responded with four runs in the bottom of the third to take a lead back that they would not surrender.


-ULM struck first with a leadoff home run by Jayden Mount to open the game in the first inning before adding two runs in the second frame on Samantha Agamaite's two-run homer. 

-Coastal Carolina cut into the deficit in the second inning, posting two runs on a two-run homer of their own, before ULM added a run in the top of the third when Hunter Hogan walked and scored on a sacrifice fly from Cheyanne Lyon. 

-The hosts took the lead for good with the four-run bottom of the third inning, highlighted by a two-run homer, a run scoring double and an RBI single. 

-Mount and Sydney McKay led the way for ULM and combined for five hits, while Ana Hogan, Jessie Watts and Agamaite each had one hit in the loss as well. Agamaite tallied two RBI and Lyon (0-2) picked up the other ULM RBI.

-Melanie Coyne was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings in the start. Paige Porter allowed only one hit over the final 3 1/3 innings in relief.


-The Warhawks travel to Northwestern State on Wednesday in the third matchup between the teams this season. Both prior meetings this year have been played in Monroe, a pair of wins for the Warhawks..
