THE BASICS

Location: Fayetteville, Ark.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  -  The ULM softball team hung with Arkansas on Wednesday night and saw a tied game into the fifth inning, when the Razorbacks posted five runs on the way to a 9-3 victory. 

TURNING POINT

-After ULM had just tied the game with two runs in the top of the third inning, Arkansas scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth, all coming with two outs in the inning, to take control of the night.

NOTABLES

-Sydney Mckay and Hunter Hogan paced the team with two hits each as ULM finished with five hits as a team, with Melanie Coyne adding the other.

-Coyne was saddled with the loss after allowing nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits over six innings of work with a pair of strikeouts.

-After Arkansas took the lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, ULM answered in the top of the second on Coyne's RBI single to score Hogan, who reached on an error to begin the inning. Arkansas regained the lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run homer before the Warhawks again responded, this time with an RBI single from Hogan and a fielder's choice ground ball from Jessie Watts, to knot the game at 3-3.

-Arkansas took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with the five runs on five hits, all coming with two outs, before adding a final run in the fifth to bring the game to its 9-3 final.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks return to Sun Belt Conference play at Geo-Surfaces Field on Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series against South Alabama beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
