MONROE, La. – The ULM baseball team closes out the 2017 regular season slate when the Warhawks welcome a familiar in-state foe to town as they host the Ragin' Cajuns in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series. Both Thursday and Friday night will have 6:00 p.m. first pitches, while Saturday's contest will be a 2:00 p.m. start, with Warhawk Senior Day activities taking place prior to first pitch.

Progressive Bank is Thursday night's game sponsor, while BancorpSouth is the sponsor for Friday night. In addition to ULM's baseball series, Crawfish Gatorfest is taking place in the Grove. Fans are reminded that additional parking for Warhawk Field is available in front of both Brown Stadium and Malone Stadium.

Leading Off

-ULM has met the Ragin' Cajuns 137 previous times on the diamond entering this weekend's series, dating back to the 1954 season.

-Warhawk senior relief pitchers Tyler Schwaner and Chase Cater are both among the national leaders in total appearances going into the weekend…Schwaner has 31 total appearances this season, which is tied for the fourth-most appearances in the country (with eight other pitchers)…Cater's 30 appearances put him in a seven-way tied for the 13th-most appearances in the country. Schwaner is tied for the Sun Belt lead with his 31 appearances (Justin Garcia, Little Rock). Above the Warhawk pair are relievers with 40 (Kyle Klotz, Belmont), 37 (Brandon Marsonek, Alabama A&M) and 32 (Cameron Ross, Northern Kentucky) appearances on the year.

-Prior to Saturday's finale, the Warhawks will honor their senior class: Chase Cater, Payton Coddou, Tyler Cox, Anthony Herrera, Josh Leone, Matt Reeves, Nate Reynolds, Tyler Schwaner and Cade Stone.

-ULM features six players with 10 or more multi-hit games this season, led by junior Turner Francis' 23 games with two or more base knocks…Cade Harper (eight total multi-hit games) has five three-hit games pace the Warhawks in the category. Spencer Hemphill and Chad Bell each have 16 multi-hit games, while Anthony Herrera has collected 14 games with multiple hits, Johnny DeLaCruz has 11 multi-hit games and Cade Stone has 10 games with multiple hits.

-The Warhawks lead the Sun Belt Conference with 33 runners caught stealing, while Spencer Hemphill leads the SBC with 27 runners thrown out individually. Hemphill has also picked off four runners from behind the plate this season, three back of the league lead.

-Senior Anthony Herrera drove in the go-ahead runs on April 13 at Texas State and then closed the game out in the bottom of the ninth for his fifth save of the season and his 21st career save overall, surpassing Mark Wisniewski (1982-1985) as the program's new all-time saves leader…Herrera's 10 saves last season as a junior tied the ULM program record for most saves in a season, joining Michael Durham (2000) atop the record book.

-Turner Francis leads the Warhawks with a team-high .321 batting average, while Chad Bell's 12 doubles led the team in that category as ULM has 122 total extra-base hits as a team to date (86 doubles, 29 home runs, seven triples)…On the mound, Anthony Herrera leads ULM with a 2.75 ERA in 20 appearances out of the bullpen with seven saves… seven different pitchers each have at least 25 strikeouts (Kyle Backofen – 28, Tyler Schwaner – 32, Chase Cater – 35, Keegan Curtis – 36, Josh Leone – 43, Anthony Herrera – 45, Chase Beal – 51).



-The series with the Ragin' Cajuns is slated for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch on Thursday and Friday nights before a 2:00 p.m. start on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
