Warhawks Knock Off No. 40 Tulane For Seventh Straight Win

New Orleans, La. – The ULM tennis team went into New Orleans on Saturday morning and upset the No. 40 team in the country with a 4-3 victory over Tulane on Saturday morning. The Warhawks clinched the match when senior Petra Horakova won her singles match to remain unbeaten in singles action and to clinch the match for ULM.


-The Green Wave earned the doubles point after they took two of three matches to win the point. The Warhawks doubles win came from the team of Stefana Andrei and Petra Horakova, who beat the 76th-ranked doubles team of Karagoz and Muller by a 6-4 score.

-Stefana Andrei opened the singles matches with a straight set win on Saturday. Andrei won her match 6-0, 6-3 to tie the match up at one apiece.

-The Warhawks moved ahead in the match 2-1 after Madalina Grigoriu out of the number six spot won her match in straight sets 6-2,6-2.

-After the Green Wave tied the match up at two apiece, ULM gained the slim advantage again as Tiffany Mylonas picked up the win on court two. She won 6-2, 6-1 to give the Warhawks a 3-2 advantage. After Tulane tied it once again at three apiece the match came down to the number five singles to determine the winner.

-Petra Horakova continued her tremendous and unbeaten start to the spring dual season as she picked up the point for the Warhawks to secure the match as she won 6-4, 7-5 to give the Warhawks the huge win.

-The Warhawks and Green Wave met on Saturday for the 20th time in each school’s respective history as the Warhawks improve to 12-8 all-time. 


-The Warhawks will be on the court next weekend when they head to Jonesboro, Arkansas for a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches. ULM will play Friday morning against Texas State before a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Mavericks of UTA.
