MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - Kathy Sterling was the low finisher for the Warhawks Wednesday and tied for 17th overall to guide ULM to a ninth place result after the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Tournament.

Sterling carded a 79 on the par-72, 6,264 yard Fighting Joe course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's The Shoals. Her round featured her first career eagle on the par-5 first hole along with two birdies. She totaled 229 (78-72-79) for the 54-hole event to finish seven strokes out of the top-10.

Denver's Rachael Watton and FIU's Katie Mundy both ended with three-day totals of one-under-par 215 to force sudden death, and  Watton came out victorious after winning on the first hole of the playoff to earn medalist honors.  

The Warhawks shot 315 in the final round, and combined for 935 for the tournament to drop back a spot from eighth place yesterday to close out the 2012 season. Denver finished in dominant fashion with a 291 and an eight-over-par 872 total to claim its ninth consecutive.

Ines Fendt fired the low round of the day for ULM, a 74 which included a team-best five birdies as well as two through her last three holes. She ended one stroke back of Sterling in a tie for 21st overall.

A final-round 80 by Jennifer Park gave her a 235 total for a solo 32nd place finish, while Emily Stratton totaled 241 to tie for 41st. Lea Anna Cardwell concluded the event in 55th place with 278.

Park and Ali Lucas each earned All-Conference accolades as voted by the Sun Belt's 11 head coaches. The team consists of 12 players, four of which were guranteed a spot with a top-four finish in the championship. The coaches selections determined the final eight golfers to receive recognition.
