WACO, Texas - A three-run sixth inning led No. 8 Baylor to a 7-5 comeback victory over the ULM baseball team Tuesday night at Baylor Ballpark.  The win was the 15th straight for the Bears.

Baylor (26-7) took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a Max Muncy two-run single up the middle of the diamond off Shelby Aulds (2-1) to leap on top 6-5.  A Josh Ludy sacrifice fly pushed the Baylor lead to 7-5. 

Aulds threw an effective 4.1 innings of relief, walking three and striking out four batters on 81 pitches.

Joey Rapp blasted a one-out double to the gap in right center field in the top of the sixth to kick start a Warhawk (16-16) rally.  Taylor Abdalla singled to right field, and an error in the field by Adam Toth allowed Rapp to score from second to tie the game at 4-4.  Brandon Alexander smacked an RBI groundout to shortstop to bring Abdalla in from third base and give ULM a 5-4 advantage.

Corben Green led the ULM offense with a 2-for-4 outing at the plate, adding an RBI and a run scored. Judd Edwards, Les Aulds and Alexander chipped in the other Warhawk RBIs.

Alex Hermeling quickly retired the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the first inning before walking Muncy on four pitches and yielding a base hit to Ludy.  The freshman right-hander responded by forcing Logan Vick to ground out to the third baseman Edwards for the inning's third out.

ULM picked up its first base hit of the game in the top of the second inning.  Edwards roped a one-out double to the gap in right center field off starter Tyler Bremer, scoring Alexander all the way from first base to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead.  Green followed with a single through the right side after seeing 10 pitches from Bremer, plating Edwards from second to up the ULM lead to 2-0.  Les Aulds followed with a sharply hit double into the right field corner, bringing Green around from second base to up the advantage to 3-0. 

Baylor got on the board after loading the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the second.  Toth flew out to Aulds in left field, scoring Dan Evatt to trim the deficit to 3-1.  Hermeling responded by punching out Nathan Orf looking and getting Lawton Langford to ground out to Caleb Clowers at second base to escape the frame.

The Bears tied the game in the bottom of the third, as Cal Towey ripped an RBI single into right field that plated Vick to square the contest at 3-all.  Hermeling forced Jake Miller to ground out to Clowers to end the inning.

Muncy bounced out to Clowers at second with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, deep enough to score Toth from third to give Baylor a 4-3 lead.  Shelby Aulds forced a ground out by Ludy to Jeremy Sy at shortstop for the inning's third out.

Aulds sat the Bears down in order in an impressive bottom of the fifth inning, striking out Evatt and Towey swinging to keep ULM within one run (4-3).

Five Baylor hitters finished the game with two hits apiece, with Muncy adding a team-high three RBIs.  Ryan Smith (1-0) threw 4.1 innings of one-run baseball to earn the win.

The two teams will meet for game two of the series Wednesday at 4:05 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark.
