MONROE, La. -- Shelby Aulds logged his second career complete game as he allowed just one earned run as the Warhawks claimed a 3-1 victory over Arkansas State in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Warhawk Field.

Aulds (4-4) scattered seven hits and two walks while strikingout four during his nine innings of work.  The senior faced 35 batters in Sunday’s contest and tossed 109 pitches.

The only run surrendered by Aulds came in the top of the first inning as Ryan Emery drove home Kaleb Brown with a RBI single up the middle as Arkansas State (22-18, 8-10) took the early 1-0 lead.

ULM (15-25, 5-13) responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third as it chased Red Wolves starter Chandler Hawkins from the game.  With two outs in the frame and Kodie Tidwell standing at second, Dalton Herrington hit a screaming line drive that couldn’t be hauled in by a leaping Alex Potts at second.  Herrington’s hit trickled into the outfield and allowed Tidwell to score and even the contest at one-all.  After John Koch relieved Hawkins on the hill, Jeff Fuller connected on a RBI double to left center to plate Herrington and give ULM a 2-1 advantage.

An inning later, ULM concluded the scoring as Justin Stawychny drove home Corben Green to set the final tally at 3-1.

Herrington highlighted the Warhawk effort as he drove in one and scored what proved to be the game winning run.

Arkansas State’s Hawkins (2-4) took the loss after allowing two runs on one hit and two walks in 2.2 innings of work.  Kaleb Brown led the Red Wolves at the plate as he tallied two hits and one run.

ULM will return to the diamond with a pair of home midweek games against Mississippi Valley State (Tuesday – 6 p.m. / Wednesday – 6 p.m.).  The two games can be heard live on 540 AM in Monroe or online at ULMWarhawks.com.
