"This class does a great job of meeting our needs," Schexnaider said. "I really feel like these guys will make our program better in every way. Not only are the all good baseball players, but they are also all standouts in the classroom and quality young men. I am really looking forward to them putting on a ULM jersey and being a part of the ULM family."
Alexander, who was a 29th-round selection by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2009 MLB Draft, led John A. Logan with a .379 batting average last season. The center fielder belted 12 doubles, six triples and eight home runs while driving in 44 runs and posting a .632 slugging percentage.
The left-hander was an all-conference selection last season at John A. Logan and was a second team all-state selection following his senior year at Oakville (Mo.) High School after batting over .400.
"Brandon is a very athletic outfielder," Schexnaider said. "He can really do a little bit of everything and is exciting to watch. I think our fans will love watching him play. He can hit at the top of the lineup because he can run or he can hit towards the middle because of his ability to hit for power."
Wine, a right-handed pitcher, signed with the Warhawks during last year's early signing period, but missed all but two games last year due to an injury and took a redshirt season. A native of Coulterville, Ill., Wine posted a 5-2 record with a 6.89 ERA as a freshman for the Vols in 2009. He registered 39 strikeouts in 47 innings of work over 14 appearances.
"Cale is back healthy and just as good if not better than before," Schexnaider said. "We expect Cale to be one of our top pitchers when he gets here. He is a physical pitcher who has the ability to throw with some velocity that should continue to increase as he continues to develop."
The pair joins James Connally (RHP), Christopher Dudley (OF), Joshua Faciane (SS), Alex Hermeling (RHP) and Justin Stawychny (OF) as ULM's signees during the early signing period.
