MONROE, La. - Jeremy Sy and Les Aulds belted back-to-back home runs and Wil Browning turned in a solid starting pitching performance to lead ULM past No. 25 Southern Miss 7-2 Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 2,012 at Warhawk Field.

ULM (13-6) snapped Southern Miss' seven-game win streak as it defeated a ranked team for the fourth straight season. The Warhawks have now won 11 of their last 13 games.

The homers by Sy and Aulds came during a five-run second inning which chased Southern Miss (15-4) starter Jackson Posey. They were the first home runs of the season for both players and marked ULM's first multi-home run game this season; the Warhawks are now 9-1 this in games they hit a homer.

Browning (2-1), who was making his first career start in a ULM uniform, struck out five and allowed just six hits and two runs over six innings of work. James Jones worked three scoreless innings for his second save of the season. In seven relief appearances this season, Jones has a 4-0 record with a pair of saves a 0.75 ERA, 28 strikeouts and a .152 batting average against in 24 innings of work.

In the second, Caleb Knox reached on a one-out walk and Matt Laird followed with a single back up the middle after falling behind in the count 1-2. Sy then took the second pitch he saw from Posey over the wall in left to give ULM a 3-0 advantage.

Aulds worked a 3-1 count against the Southern Miss freshman before driving his homer -- his first extra-base hit of the season -- out of the park in right field. Following a pitching change, Jordy Poche drew a walk, Caleb Clowers was hit by a pitch and Joey Rapp hammered a run scoring double down the line in left field to stretch the Warhawk lead out to 5-0.

Sy finished the night 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and three RBIs, while seven other Warhawks recorded one hit. B.A. Vollmuth was the lone Golden Eagle with multiple hits as he finished 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The Warhawks struck again in the fifth as they put together a two-out rally. Judd Edwards got things going with a single to right and Knox followed with an infield single. Both runners moved up a base on a Southern Miss throwing error on Knox's single and a passed ball allowed Edwards to score.

Southern Miss scratched a pair across in the seventh, but Jones limited the damage on what could have been a big inning. A lead-off single by Ashley Graeter and back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Southern Miss' top hitter Tyler Koelling.

Following a pitching change which brought ULM's closer into the game, Jones got the .387 hitter to ground into a 4-6-3 double play. Vollmuth followed with an RBI single to center for the second run of the inning, but Jones got the next Golden Eagle batter to line out to end the threat.

Poche tacked on the final run of the night with an RBI single to center in the home half of the eighth. Sy reached on a one-out single up the middle, stole second and scored on Poche's single.

Posey (1-1) suffered the loss for Southern Miss as he was charged with four runs on three hits in just 1.1 innings of work. Dillion Day tossed the final 6.2 innings for Southern Miss and allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits.

The Warhawks play host to in-state foe Northwestern State Wednesday night at Warhawk Field before hitting the road for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at South Alabama over the weekend. First pitch against the Demons is scheduled for 6 p.m.
