MONROE, La. –The ULM men’s and women’s cross country programs each earned 2016 All-Academic status by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), announced on Thursday.
“Coach Hayman and I are very excited for our men’s & women’s cross country teams being honored as All-Academic, especially to be one of only two state schools to achieve this honor,” head coach J.D. Malone stated. “We had three team members make 4.0 GPAs. As a team, we set academic as well as athletic goals each season. This is one of them. This honor acknowledges the hard work our kids put in.”
Overall, there were 431 teams that earned distinction from the USTFCCCA for their efforts both athletically and academically. Of those 431 teams, 242 were women’s and 189 were men’s.
The ULM women’s program posted a 3.40 cumulative team GPA while the Warhawk men notched a 3.38 cumulative team GPA. To qualify, a team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
