            Spring Hill (3-5)

Location: Gulf Shores, Ala.

GULF SHORES, Ala.  - The ULM beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of competition in Gulf Shores with a 4-1 win over Eckerd and a 3-2 loss to the host team Spring Hill to finish the weekend with a 2-2 record.

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks took the court against Eckerd in overcast and rainy conditions. The weather, however, did not hinder ULM as the team went 4-1 against the Tritons. The Warhawks knocked out each match in two sets from the first team all the way down to the exhibition game in the six position.

-After a break, the sun came out as the Warhawks took the court for the final time this weekend to face Spring Hill. Tied at two wins apiece, the three pairs were the deciding factor. Although the ULM three's team, Tara Jenkins and Claire Crossfield, pushed the Badgers to a third set, Spring Hill had the final say and took the win.

-Four of the top five teams went to three sets against host Spring Hill - Hadley Swartz and Kori Simpson, Delany Driver and Gabby Love, Jenkins and Crossfield, as well as Bailey Smith and Grace Convey.

-Convey and Smith were the most successful pair on the weekend. The pair went undefeated (4-0) and dropped only two sets on the weekend. Convey and Smith won in two sets over Jacksonville State and Eckerd and three sets over Spring Hill and Tulane. The pair played as the four team against Jacksonville State and the five team for the remainder of the weekend. The pair saw their first career win as Warhawks (as individuals and as a pair) against Mercer.

FROM COACH HILTZ

"As well as we played this morning, we played that poorly this afternoon. Our lack of discipline showed up again and we just played mentally weak volleyball. There's no room for fear in sports and beach volleyball is no different. We play Spring Hill again and I expect a different result. We need to go back to practice and continue to work on the fundamentals. We showed that we haven't quite got those things down just yet. Hopefully we can clean it up in time to protect our home courts on Thursday."
