MONROE, La. – ULM women's golf head coach Joni Stephens has announced the addition of Eva Karen Bjornsdottir to the program after signing her National Letter of Intent.

"I am very pleased to be adding Eva to our roster. She is a strong golfer with great distance and a solid short game, and has the kind of tournament experience and competitive composure that will allow her have an immediate impact,” said Stephens.

Bjornsdottir comes to ULM from Commercial College of Iceland in Reykjavik, Iceland. She has been a member of the golf club in Reykjavik since 2008 and began playing golf when she was just eight years old. Her earliest golf memories are going with her father and brother while they would play and learning the game through her experiences from them.

"I am looking forward to working with Coach Stephens in such good environment and facilities that ULM has to offer," Bjornsdottir said. "Coming from Iceland, I am excited to play all year long in great weather in the United States."

Bjornsdottir's best round of her young career came in 2016 during a tournament on the Icelandic Youth Tour that she shot a plus-one (71) and during the Icelandic Youth Championship she would score a plus-one (73). She won six junior tournaments in Iceland and was third on the Icleandic adult tour during the 2016 season. Bjornsdottir was runner up in the annual youth ranking during the 2016 season, while her team won the Icelandic team championship back-to-back years.
