Monroe, La. – The ULM Soccer team opens play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament against Arkansas Little Rock on Wednesday in the opening round. The Warhawks and Trojans will battle at 1:00 p.m. in Foley, Ala. and the game can be seen on ESPN3.

-ULM and Little Rock met during the regular season on September 23 in Monroe, with Alexiss Trudeau’s first collegiate goal proving to be the difference-maker.

-Wednesday will be ULM’s first-ever Sun Belt Conference Tournament game and the Warhawks’ first conference tournament game overall since 2005 as a member of the Southland Conference.

-ULM is 3-5 all-time in conference tournament games, including coming up one game short of advancing to the 2004 Southland Conference Championship game.

-The meeting against Little Rock will be the first matchup in postseason play between the two teams, who have met 18 times overall in regular season history.

-ULM is led this season by Cke’Lana Caesar and Emely Portillo-Segovia, with each scoring three goals to lead the team. Danielle Sabathe and Alexandria Skidmore each had three assists during the regular season to lead that category.

-The Warhawks are led in goal by Brooke-Lynn Scroggins, who led the Sun Belt with 124 saves during the regular season while also adding six solo shutouts.

-The Trojans enter Wednesday’s matchup led by Arola Aparicio Gili who has scored five goals this season with all of those coming in conference play. Sara Small leads the Trojans between the pipes as she has a 9-6-1 record this season with five shutouts and a goals against of 0.80.

Head Coach Keyton Wheelock

Recap end to regular season: Being able to score three goals with the amount of chances we had against Troy I was very pleased considering we entered that game with only 11 goals on the season. We got more numbers forward and our strikers were firing shots. We had three different scorers set up by three different people which made Friday a strong overall performance, especially offensively where we have lacked at times this year. Texas State we didn’t see the number of chances but we still were able to create some in a lower scoring matchup as Danielle Sabathe scored which is key to keep our opponents guessing on who can create chances.

Little Rock Preview: They are extremely competitive team in the upper half of the RPI of the Sun Belt and nationally going into the tournament. They are extremely well coached and well organized featuring a lot of offensive threats and fire power. They are a strong organized team defensively that doesn’t give up a lot of goals or a lot of chances.

Senior Whitney Tuckfield

Getting to the Tournament: It has been a great experience to finally be able to push through and make it to our first conference tournament. We have had a great season and we are happy to be rewarded for our hard work.

Seniors making it for the first time: It is exciting for all four of us who have stuck it out all four years. At times it hasn’t been easy but we are happy to able to be a part of a Sun Belt Conference tournament. We are all glad to be here to see this program progress to the next level of making the tournament.
