McNeese Louisiana Challenge

Lake Charles, La. – The ULM men’s and women’s track & field teams open the outdoor portion of the 2017 schedule on Saturday when the Warhawks travel to the McNeese Louisiana Challenge.
-The last time the Warhawks hit the track was at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships. In the men’s long jump, Jemal Parharm recorded a 7.47 meter jump to win the event. His first jump distance held up throughout the six rounds as he won by just .01 meters over Jamil Peeples from Arkansas State.
-In the men’s distance medley at the SBC Indoor Championships, the team of Brandon McDonald, Zach Kilpatrick, Martin Kipchirchir and Elias Keter finished with a time of 10:29.28 to earn a fifth place finish.
-In last year’s McNeese Louisiana Challenge, the Warhawks made a statement on opening day of action as they crowned five champions and had 14 top-three finishers.
-Teams included this weekend in Lake Charles include: Northwestern State, New Orleans, McNeese State, Alcorn State, Grambling, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls State, Louisiana and Southern.
-ULM will have a quick turnaround as they will head down I-20 to Ruston on Wednesday for the Jim Mize Invitational.
