HAMMOND, La.  -  The ULM softball team could not overcome a 10-run second inning from Southeastern Louisiana on Monday night as the host Lions defeated the Warhawks 11-3 in five innings.     

TURNING POINT

-The teams matched each other in the first inning with one run apiece, however the Lions used a 10-run second frame to create the seperation they needed.

NOTABLES

-Cheyanne Lyon paced the Warhawks offense with a perfect 3-for-3 night with a pair of RBI while Sydney McKay went 2-for-3 in the loss. Hunter Hogan, Victoria Pederson and Ana Hogan each contributed one hit apiece with Ana Hogan adding an RBI. 

-Paige Porter was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs on six hits in just one inning of work. Rachel Murphy followed Porter giving up four unearned runs without getting an out before Jessie Watts entered with an inning of work, giving up two hits and two unearned runs. Sydney Wader finished things off for the Warhawks as she went a perfect two innings facing just six Lions.

-McKay opened the game with a leadoff single in the top of the first for ULM and scored moments later on Lyon's RBI double to give the Warhawks the lead before Southeastern answered in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a ULM throwing error to tie the game.

-The hosts posted the 10 runs in the second inning, highlighted by a pair of two-run singles in the frame. ULM added two final runs in the fourth inning, putting four hits together, including RBI singles from Ana Hogan and Lyon, but left the bases loaded to end the threat.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks travel to face SEC opponent Arkansas on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.
