Honors continued to roll in for the ULM Men's Golf program as Hogan Arey and Thibault Santigny  were both named to the 2016-17 Louisiana Sports Writers Association's All-Louisiana Men's Golf team on Tuesday.

Arey, a redshirt junior, was named to the first team by the sports information directors from each of the state's schools. Santigny was tapped Freshman of the Year and named to the second team.

Head Coach Tim Baldwin was pleased to see the players and the team honored by the sports writers and information directors.

“I am very happy for Hogan and Thibault as this is a nice recognition for our program,” Baldwin said. “Hogan really stepped up this year and led by example. He is well deserving of first team selection with the LSWA.”

Included in Arey's 72.97 stroke average for 32 rounds were 16 rounds of par or better, 6 rounds in the 60s and his first individual win — Atchafalaya Intercollegiate.

As a Sunbelt third team all-conference selection, he also led the team with birdies (107), an up/down percentage of 63 % and a GIR < 15'  — greens in regulation of 37%.  He will be back for his senior season this fall.

Santigny also made a strong impact this year as a freshman being selected to the second team all LSWA and freshman of the year. The third team All-Sunbelt conference selection from Paris, France, posted a 73.54 stroke average for 24 rounds with 7 rounds of par or better.

His best finish was a t4 at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate at Mystic Creek. In addition, he led the team in par 3 and par 5 stroke average with 3.09 and 4.77.  He also led the team and was second in the country with 8 eagles on the year.”

Santigny is part of a strong foundation of freshmen and was ranked as the fourth best freshman impact rating in the country by Golfstat. The other freshmen were Guillaume Fanonnel, Andoni Etchenique and Joao Girao.
