TROY, Ala. – The ULM baseball team saw Troy post three multi-run innings that proved to be the difference on Sunday afternoon as the hosts handed the Warhawks a 8-3 loss in the final game of the teams' Sun Belt Conference series.

Score: Troy 8, ULM 3

Location: Riddle-Pace Field / Troy, Ala.

Teams: ULM (12-40, 6-21 SBC)

             Troy (30-21, 15-12 SBC)

-With ULM trailing by one run at 3-2 entering the bottom of the fourth, Troy plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth, using a bases loaded walk, a fielder's choice RBI and then a third run via a ULM error to push out to a three-run advantage and take control of the game.

-ULM jumped on the board in the top of the first inning when Cade Stone took the opening pitch of the afternoon over the right field wall to give the Warhawks the lead before Troy responded with three runs, on a RBI double and a two-run single, to take the lead after one complete inning.

-The Warhawks answered in the top of the third on another first pitch, this time a leadoff homer from Cade Harper over the right field wall that cut the margin to one run before the three-run bottom of the fourth from Troy gave the hosts the lead.

-ULM used another homer, again from Harper, in the top of the fifth, to pull to within three runs before Troy posted the final runs of the afternoon in the bottom of the seventh.

-The Warhawks finished with eight hits in the game, led by Harper's 3-for-4 afternoon with his two home runs. Turner Francis added two hits, while Spencer Hemphill, Chad Bell and Stone each had one hit.

-ULM starter Stephen Morrison was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits in three innings of work. Keegan Curtis (three innings, two runs), Trey Auger, Tyler Schwaner and Chase Cater closed out the remaining five innings out of the bullpen for the Warhawks.

-Troy was led by Chase Smartt's three-hit afternoon, while starter Daren Osby earned the win after six innings in which he allowed three runs on five hits.

-The Warhawks return home to host the Ragin' Cajuns in SBC play next weekend in the final regular season conference series of the season. Thursday's series opener is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start, followed by another 6:00 p.m. start on Friday night before a 2:00 p.m. start on Saturday, with Senior Day activities to take place prior to first pitch.
