BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior Luther Ambrose came up short in
his attempt to reach the NCAA Championships for a second consecutive year with
an 18th-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash final at the East
Preliminary Round at E.C. Billy Hayes Track.
A 2010 All-American in the 100, Ambrose ran a time of 10.52,
four seconds slower than his time in the prelims yesterday. Only the top 12
athletes in each event advance to the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
Senior Lakeitha Elmore also wrapped up her season with a 32nd-place
effort in the women's shot put. Elmore had a best mark of 14.63 meters Friday
and she finishes her career as one of the all-time best in the shot put in
school history.
Junior Richard McKay (javelin) will be the lone member of ULM's
track & field squad to compete at the NCAA Championships, June 8-11, in Des
Moines, Iowa. It marks the second straight year and third time in four years
that ULM has had an athlete compete in the javelin at the NCAA Championships.
