NEW ORLEANS - The ULM men's cross country
team entered the top 15 of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association Division 1 Regional Rankings on Monday.
The Warhawks were tabbed as the 15th-best
team in the South Central Region by the USTFCCCA, the highest such ranking in the
poll in program history. Fellow Sun Belt
Conference member UALR was ranked seventh in the same region.
Texas jumped to the top spot in the South
Central Region after finishing third last week, while Arkansas dropped from
first to second. Texas A&M, Lamar
and UTSA rounded out the top five of this week's poll.
ULM finished 18th out of 32 competitors at
the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on Oct. 15. Junior Daniel Mutai was the top Warhawk
finisher, claiming 33rd place with a 10k time of 30:36.80.
After an idle week to prepare, ULM will
return to action Oct. 29 at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Bowling
Green, Ky.
