MONROE, La. – Ryan Shotzberger has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of the baseball team, head coach
Ford Pemberton announced.
"Ryan has been a tremendous asset for our players and staff," said Pemberton. "Since his arrival, he has shown daily why he's had so much success at this level, including multiple conference titles, a trip to Omaha, and having coached a number of draft picks and big leaguers. It's only a matter of time before he will be a head coach again at this level, but for now we are incredibly fortunate to have him here as he loves ULM and connects with our players, bringing out the best in their development and game."
Shotzberger enters his second season with the Warhawks after joining Pemberton's staff in September of 2025. Shotzberger helped guide the 2026 Warhawks to the first winning record at home since 2021, to a season sweep over Louisiana Tech, and a series victory over the Ragin' Cajuns.
The 2026 season also saw
Garrett Wiethorn selected to the All-Sun Belt Freshman Team after finishing the season with a .315 batting average, 52 hits, 28 RBIs and 37 runs scored. Senior shortstop
Kade Dupont hit .365 to lead the team, and lead the conference with a .480 on-base percentage. Dupont was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team as the first Warhawk to receive the honor since 2022. He was also selected to the All-Louisiana Second Team, and was a semifinalist for Brooks Wallace Player of the Year.
Davis Mauzy was also named an All-Louisiana Honorable Mention
Shotzberger came to Monroe from Incarnate Word, where he was the head coach for six seasons. In his time coaching, he has claimed seven 40+-win seasons, 11 conference titles, seven NCAA Regionals, three NCAA Super Regionals and a trip to the College World Series. Shotzberger has also coached 98 all-conference players and nine All-Americans. He's had 64 players drafted, with 19 reaching Major League Baseball.

"I appreciate Coach Pem for the promotion and look forward to continuing to bring his vision of ULM baseball to life."
Prior to his time at Incarnate Word, Shotzberger spent time as an assistant coach at three Power Five programs, most notably Houston. He arrived in Houston as an assistant coach in 2011, coaching for the Cougars until 2019. In his time at Houston, he witnessed three regular season conference titles and two tournament titles. The Cougars hosted two NCAA Regionals and attended a third with Shotzberger on staff.
Prior to his time at Houston, spent five years on staff at TCU. The Horned Frogs won the Mountain West conference title, either regular season or tournament, in each of the five seasons Shotzberger was on staff. They also claimed two NCAA regional championships, a super regional championship and traveled to the 2010 College World Series. During his time at TCU, Shotzberger tutored three All-Conference catchers in Andrew Walker, Josh Elander and Bryan Holaday, the 2010 Johnny Bench Award recipient.
A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Shotzberger attended McDaniel College. A four-year letterwinner at shortstop, he earned First-Team All-Centennial Conference honors in 2003 and 2004 as well as being named the team MVP. Shotzberger graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2004.
